A rare copy of the First Edition Beano Annual published before the appearance of Dennis The Menace, the 1940 Beano book was issued around the outbreak of World War Two in 1939, it came a year after the weekly comic was first brought out by Dundee based D.C. Thompson in July 1938. The annual was published in relatively small numbers and it is extremely difficult to find a better copy than this one (see illustration).

As also, many rich and spacious kingdoms in the Oriental India and other parts of Asia, and adjacent Ilas, published by Jacob Blome, London, 1638, second edition revised and enlarged by the author. Sir Thomas Herbert made an extensive tour in Persia, Cape of Good Hope, Madagascar, Surat and the Eastern Shores of North America including a dissertation to prove that America was discovered 300 years before Columbus by the Welsh man Madoc Ap Owen (see illustration).
