On Wednesday 6th October 2021 Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth held their weekly sale of primestock with 73 cattle comprising 57 cull cattle and 16 prime bulls and clean cattle 1706 prime sheep including 1470 lambs and 236 cast ewes and rams. Leading the sale in price per kilo was an outstanding Limousin bull from D & MA Wilson, Lamplugh Hall selling for 250 pence.  Top price of the day was also achieved from D & MA Wilson, Lamplugh Hall for a tremendous Limousin bull topping the market...

On Monday 4th October Mitchells held the Annual Show and Sale of Swaledale Draft Ewes, Shearlings and Gimmer Lambs. The show was ably judged by Ms Mary Dawson, Millstone Moor who commented on the strong show put before her. After some deliberation the Willy Gill Trophy and Champion rosette was awarded to EJ & RJ Wear, Howe Green which later sold for the top price of the day £220.  Thanks must go to our sponsors David Allen Accountants and NFU Mutual. Saturday 2nd October The ‘Keswick’ Show and Sale of registered Herdwick rams on Saturday started with a show of outstanding tups. Held under the auspices of the Herdwick Sheep Breeders Association, judging was in the capable hands of Mr Sam Hodgson, Glencoyne and Mr Jono Hoggarth, Old Hall and the referee Mr Ian Grisedale, Green Mount Farm. Friday 1st October The annual two day sale of Herdwick breeding ewes and rams was held at Mitchells Auction Co, Cockermouth, Cumbria.  The sale continues to attract interest from across the UK, with purchasers travelling from far and wide to partake in the largest sale of Herdwick sheep in the country. A great entry of 700 store cattle was presented for the ‘Brian Smith’ Show and Sale of Store Cattle on Friday 24th September.
