Sandy joined Mitchells from Natural England in 2012 and is our ‘Environmental Specialist’. As a qualified FACTS adviser, Sandy offers fertiliser and manure management advice as well as Countryside Stewardship & Basic Payment Scheme work.
Sandy has worked widely throughout the industry, including the NFU, where she helped restore flood damaged land after the 2009 floods. Also, Natural England, Environment Agency and the RPA prior to joining Mitchells. She is heavily experienced in all areas of permitting work, environmental pollution issues, grant applications and statutory legislation. Her main interests include hay meadow restoration & water quality/river management which have led her to be appointed a director of the West Cumbria Rivers Trust offering advice on farming issues.
‘My vision for 2021 and beyond is to offer a unique and comprehensive Farm & Environment Consultancy service where the Farmer and Farming is the focus.' Due to an increase in workload and the new transitional policies being introduced by DEFRA, Sandy has been joined by Jonny Pickup who can offer business advice and Kirsty Graham who will lead on the Sustainable Farm Incentive and the Environmental land management Scheme going forward.
