The Great Annual Lakeland sale of 4,549 Store Lambs and Continental X Gimmer lambs was held on Saturday 19th September. This Annual harvest of the Lakeland hills in turn attracted a keen ringside of buyers ensuring a strong trade was witnessed with long keep lambs proving easiest to sell. Many annual consignments reported previously unseen increases on the year leaving a whopping overall average of £71.26 per head. The days’ top price of £142 was paid for a pair of Kerry Hill gimmer lambs from A&S Hadwin, The Steading. Texel cross gimmer lambs from AJ Wood, Woodhall Brow sold to £120. Wethers topped at £111 for Texels also from AJ Wood, Woodhall Brow. Some great consignments of Mule wethers were well bid for topping at £79 twice, firstly for a pen of 55 from JW Hartley, Low Priorscales and then again for a pen of 75 from another great consignment from NW Graham, Tortolocate.
