Store Lambs A nice quality entry of 500 store lambs met a steady trade being slightly cheaper on the previous sale although in line with the market trends. The sale was topped £130 for Texel lambs shown by B Adams, Lingla Bank, Frizington. On Wednesday, Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth, held their weekly sale of primestock with 32 Cattle comprising of 1 Prime Cattle and 31 cast cows: 888 sheep including 655 prime lambs and 233 cast ewes and rams.   A Tremendous Blonde cow from PT & SM Hewitson, Byresteads topped the sale at £2000.43 this cow also achieved the top pence per kilo at 279ppk in the cast cow section.    Today we had a larger show of dairy cows forward – selling to a good demand selling to a top of £1517.40...

Market Report for Friday 30th August 2024   An exceptional show of breeding rams was forward to a packed ring side of buyers, both travelled and local. The resulting sale prices were above expectations with many sellers being very satisfied. On Wednesday 4th September, Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth, held their weekly sale of primestock with 38 Cattle comprising of 4 Prime Cattle and 22 cast cows and 12 bulls: 1440 sheep including 1042 prime lambs and 398 cast ewes and rams.   Today we had a larger show of cattle forward to a usual ring side of buyers.
