Store cattle

A show consisting mainly of younger cattle sold to a blistering trade. Top of £1295 for an Aberdeen Angus steer from Brackenbarrow Farm, Croftlands. Heifers topped at £1200 from WE&DE Litt, Greengill.

Young Stores topped at £1185 on 3 occasions, firstly for an 11 month old British Blue steer from P Bland & J Barnes, Knott Houses, Grasmere and then twice for neighbours RJ Powell, Brimmer Head with Limousin steers at 9 and 11 months of age. Yearling heifers in extreme demand upto £1165 for a Limousin again from RJ Powell, Brimmer Head.

Stirks were in demand from all corners of the ring, selling to £605 twice for British Blue heifers. Many more are required each sale.

Supersonic store hoggs with trade still alight. Top of £104 for Texel tup hoggs from N&BM Ireland, New House.

Breeding Sheep – Herdwick – 102(2) Hundith Hill Farm, 92, 90(2) Howside.

 

The annual sale of Limousin and pure bred Breeding Bulls attracted plenty of interest and a brilliant trade with all bulls finding new homes.

Top of 6000gns was paid for ‘Cloughhead Punch’, an un-registered 20m old Limousin sired by Twemlows Morpeth from Messrs GL Hutton, Setmabanning purchased by AG & KF Nicholson, Swinside End Farm.
