The ‘Keswick’ Show and Sale of registered Herdwick rams on Saturday started with a show of outstanding tups. Held under the auspices of the Herdwick Sheep Breeders Association, judging was in the capable hands of Mr Sam Hodgson, Glencoyne and Mr Jono Hoggarth, Old Hall and the referee Mr Ian Grisedale, Green Mount Farm. After some deliberation the Nicholson Trophy for Champion Tup was awarded to the 1st prized Shearling from W S Jackson, Nook Farm. This Ram later sold for 6,000gns.
Top price of the day was 10,000gns paid for the first prize 2 shear Ram from AE&LK Harrison, Taw House, Eskdale which sold to Messrs Whittle.
