On Wednesday 19th October 2022 Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth held their weekly sale of primestock with 83 cattle comprising 69 cull cattle and 14 prime bulls and clean cattle, 2738 prime sheep including 2074 lambs and 664 cast ewes and rams.
With momentum definitely in the live ring at present, Mitchells auction cow ring is the place to be with trade on fire, extra buyers are turning out week on week. Leading the way was a Limousin x cow from Old Hyton at 235ppk (£1851.80ph)
Dairy cast cows sell to extreme rates with top price being regular supporter Dundraw farms at £1490.72,

Prime lamb trade continues to be competitive and pleasing with 13 buyers wanting all types. Our sale average was 230.12ppk with fed lambs the order of the day.
Leading the way forward was William Fraser, High Flatts with a consignment of 28 lambs averaging £140.15 per head.
Scott Jefferson, Aspatria Hall was close to this with a lovely run of lambs averaging £136.86 and leading the top price per head with a lamb at £174 purchased by Mr Joe Bosworth.
