On Wednesday 23rd November Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth held their weekly sale of primestock with 60 cattle comprising 44 cull cattle and 16 prime cattle, 2054 sheep including 1715 prime lambs and 339 cast ewes and rams.
Prime cattle topped at 278ppk or £1901.52 for a Limousin Heifer from A&L Gott, Prospect House, Isel. Bulls to 275p or £1746.25 for a Charolais from P&PI Walker, Beechcroft, Mockerkin.

A large ringside of 11 active purchasers ensured a flying trade was achieved with all classes well bid for. Top of £188 for a Texel lamb from Messrs Fraser, High Flatts, Gilcrux purchased by Tony Harrison, Butcher, Main St, Cockermouth. Beltex lambs to £174 from TA Jefferson, Aspatria Hall, Aspatria purchased by W Lindsay & Sons, Butcher, Station St, Cockermouth.
Top per kilo was 337.3ppk for a Texel from Messrs Fraser, High Flatts, Gilcrux. Beltex lambs to 333.3ppk from I Powley, Green Marsh, Carlisle.
