On Wednesday 29th March 2023 Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth held their weekly sale of primestock comprising of 45 cast cows and 15 prime cattle, 1650 prime sheep including 1505 prime hoggs and 145 cast ewes and rams.

Prime Sheep
The Easter show of hoggs attracted a quality entry under the professional inspection of judge Mr Morgan Helliwell. The championship rosette was awarded for the 1st prize pair of Continental hoggs from Messrs Richardson, Low Garth, Bewaldeth which later sold for £235 to regular supporter and supplier of quality produce W Lindsay & Sons, Butcher, Station Street, Cockermouth.
Reserve honours went to the pair from S&D Peile, Parkgate Hall, Waverton which later sold for £195 purchased by Tony Harrison, Butcher, Main Street, Cockermouth.
Out with the show the top price of £300 or 500p per kilo was paid for a single Beltex hogg donated to Eden Valley Hospice by Messrs Richardson, Low Garth, Bewaldeth.
