Store cattle
Store cattle sold to a bumper trade as Spring like weather sees an increase in demand. Top of £1955 for a Limousin Steer from M Irving & Sons, Weary Hall, Mealsgate who also sold others to £1855. Native bred cattle sold to £1635 for an Aberdeen Angus Steer from W Sharpe, Woodend Lodge, Lamplugh. Holstein Friesian steers to £1345 from RW Carr, Croftside, Coulderton.
Heifers sold to a top of £1675 for a British Blue from Messrs Lister, Foxhouse Farm, Broughton Moor. Others to £1625 from Messrs Crowe, Hall Santon, Holmrook.
A good entry of young bulls topped at £1585 for a Limousin again from Messrs Crowe, Hall Santon, Holmrook.

The first entry of Ewes and Lambs came forward attracting an eager ringside of purchasers and a flying trade for all classes. Top of £108 per life or £324 per family for Beltex ewes with twin Lambs at foot from GW Whitfield & Sons, Low Stowbank, Ennerdale. Texel ewes with lambs to £106 per head from I&G Lister, New Monkwray, Whitehaven whilst Mule ewes with twin lambs sold to £81 from Bobsy Tyson, Melbutts, Threlkeld,
