Breeding Cattle
With the confidence throughout the beef industry on a record high; a keen ringside of purchasers assembled to ensure a flying trade. Top of £2400 for a British Blue Heifer with calf at foot from Messrs Folder, Wescoe Farm, Threlkeld. Simmental Cows with calves to £2300 from KG Holliday, Strudda Bank, Calderbridge.
The noted consignment of Pedigree Limousin Bulling Heifers from DJ&MJ Hoggarth, Old Hall, Broughton in Furness attracted great interest and sold to a top of £2150.

THE DAVID WESTGARTH SHOW & SALE OF EWES & HOGGS WITH LAMBS AT FOOT
A far increased entry sold to a massive trade with lowland sheep selling to record rates never before witnessed.
The Show was ably judged by Mr Nick Gill who had before him a quality line up of genuine breeding sheep. After careful consideration the David Westgarth Memorial Trophy was awarded to the 1st prize pen of 5 Mule Hoggs with Lambs from noted home Winter Bros, Clickham Farm, Appleby. This super pen later realised £250 per head and topped the sale selling to the judge. Reserve honours went to the pen of Texel hoggs with Lambs at foot from Messrs Carr, Highwood, Hexham later selling for £155.
Ewes with Lambs topped at £190 per head or a colossal £570 per family for a Texel ewe with twin lambs from D&A Hunt, Croft House, Threapland. The outstanding consignment from D&A Hunt, Croft House sold to average a whopping £147.18 per head.
A large entry of fell ewes came forward topping at £60 per life for Herdwick Ewes with single Texel lambs from Woodhow Farm, Wasdale. Ewes with Twins sold to £57 from RM Wilson, Dockray Nook, Lamplugh.
