The annual gather of the Lakeland Fells culminated in Mitchells Auction today as a fantastic entry of over 7,000 fell bred lambs came forward before a ringside of both local and travelled buyers. A great trade ensued with all classes up on the year.
Top of £133 for Beltex lambs from AJ Wood, Woodhall Brow, Dean. Beltex lambs averaged £113.90.
Cheviot Lambs sold to £96 from M&GC Graham, Lanefoot, Lorton.
Mule lambs topped at £93 from KW McAdam, Swallow Bank, Threlkeld with others to £92 from NW Graham, Tortolocate, Haile.
A huge entry of fell lambs sold to £77 for Swaledales from G&A Crayston, Thornholme, Calderbridge.
Herdwick lambs topped at £56.50 for a pen of 51 from PM Blair, Miller Place, Lorton.
