January opening show & sale of store cattle

What a day has been had here at Mitchells Auction at the January Show and Sale of Store Cattle. The marvellous entry of 1071 cattle were a sight to behold as quality knew no bounds and delighted from one vendor to the next.
The show was professionally judged by father and son team Matthew and Harry Brown, Carnaby and kindly sponsored by Eden Farm Supplies, CT Hayton and Dugdale Nutrition.
After some deliberation the championship was awarded to the British Blue Heifer from I Powley, Green Marsh, Carlisle which later sold for the day’s top price of £3100.
Reserve honours went to S Hardisty & Son, How Hall, Ennerdale with their Limousin Steer which sold for £2100.
Out with the show all classes sold to the dearest trade ever seen with a plethora of purchasers around the ring.
