On Tuesday 9th October saw Mitchells Auction Co having their annual sale of Swaledale breeding sheep. A catalogued entry of 4176 sold to a crowded ringside of buyers ensuring a solid trade in what has been a turbulent back end. The sale average was only £13 back on the year which was most satisfactory compared to other centres.
The show was kindly sponsored by David Allen Agriculture, NFU Mutual and the Lake District National Park with judging in the capable hands of Mr Henry Critchlow and Mr Stephen Wells. Our thanks go to them for their time and expertise. After some deliberation the Willy Gill Trophy for the Champion pen of ewes was awarded to GL Hutton, Setmabanning for their pen of 3 crop ewes which later sold for £105.
