The Valentines Show and Sale of 710 head of livestock was held to a huge congregation of well-travelled Farmers. The sale opened with the dispersal sale of the In Lamb flock from AE & VJ Errington, Beckhouse Farm. The sheep were a credit to Edward being presented in outstanding condition given the winter weather we have lately experienced. Bidding was strong with prices excellent, Ewes and lambs also sold to blistering rates.

Breeding Cattle then entered the ring with WB Steele, Row Beck, selling his last consignment of In Calf Beef Cows to an average of £1965.56.

Breeding Bulls averaged a creditable £3400 with top price of £4000 for a Pedigree Limousin Bull from Messrs Kitching, Dale Bottom, Keswick.

Followed by Feeding bulls and Store cattle, what more could be said than we attracted a huge ring of buyers counted to 56 in total. Prices for all types, yearlings and strong forward sorts were electric and pleased all sellers from start to finish of the sale.

Leading the sale was £1870 for a Limousin Steer from Messrs Crowe, Cubbin, Holmrook.

The pre-sale show was exceptionally judged by William Bowe, Hunday whom awarded champion to the British Blue steer from Messrs Hardisty, How Hall, Ennerdale and later sold for £1500 to the judge.
