Store Cattle

Following the increased prices in the prime ring all classes of store cattle sold well to both local and distant buyers.  Entries for the next sale will close on Friday 8th March at 10.00 am when the catalogue will be printed, this is the March Show and Sale and we have enquires from buyers for all classes to include bulls, steers, and heifers.  

 

The top price today was £1670 paid for a Limousin Heifer from Messrs Dixon, Ewanrigg Hall, Maryport.

Steers sold to £1550 for a British Blue from Messrs Sharp, Holmecroft, Beckermet.

Stirks

More Stirks and weaned calves were on offer today and with a crowded ring of buyers all classes met spirited competition, and more are needed to satisfy buyers requirements.

 

 

Breeding Sheep

Ewes and lambs sold to a crowded ringside of buyers with the grass starting to grow.

Ewes with Lambs at foot sold to £126 per life for Continental Ewes with singles from R & L Hodgson, Woodside. Ewes with twins sold to £112 per life for a pen of Suffolks from CP Nixon, Seafield House.
