Today we held our Easter Show of Prime Hoggs, the show was well attended and had some fantastic quality on show.
Mr Morgan Helliwell kindly judged the show, the Championship rosette was awarded to an outstanding pair of Dutch Texel hoggs from Ms Fell, Stanger Hill. Morgan stood by his decision and purchased the champion pair for £230 each (534ppk).
2nd prize rosette was awarded to S&D Peile, Parkgate Hall, Wigton, these hoggs weighing 55kg achieving £278 each purchased by weekly supporter Tony Harrison Butchers, Main Street, Cockermouth.
3rd Prize rosette was awarded to Ms Fell, Stanger Hill - these 49kg Dutch Texel Hoggs achieved £270 each (551ppk) which was top price ppk of the day, again purchased by Tony Harrison.
Also, on this day the “Stan Edmondson Memorial Cup” was awarded to JR Weir, Elva Plain for his pen of 10 Herdwick Hoggs – these weighing 47kg achieving £190 each and purchased by W Lindsay & Son Butchers, Station Street, Cockermouth.
