Market Report for Wednesday 27th March 2024
On Wednesday 27th March 2024, Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth held their weekly sale of primestock with 75 Cattle comprising of 49 Prime Cattle and 26 cast cows: 1439 sheep including 1235 prime lambs and 204 cast ewes and rams.
We held our monthly sale of Lake District Prime Beef, this was also our easter show of prime beef. A tremendous show of prime cattle was forward. Judging was in the capable hands of Mr Norman Bowe.
Norman handed the championship rosette to a Limousin heifer from Tim Pearson, High Plaskett Lands, this heifer went and sold to the judge for 335ppk (£2200.95).
First prize steer rosette was awarded to an outstanding limousin from RE Miller, West Farm, Aspatria purchased by Pearson Wholesale Butchers 327ppk (£2282.46).
First prize in the bull section was awarded to a limousin from WE&DE Litt, Greengill Farm, Gilcrux achieving 271ppk (£1775.05) again purchased by Pearson Wholesale Butchers.
