On Wednesday 17th April 2024, Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth held their weekly sale of primestock with 33 Cattle comprising of 10 Prime Cattle and 23 cast cows: 1390 sheep including 977 prime hoggs and 413 cast ewes and rams.
Topping the prime bull section was an outstanding British Blue from Crosbyhouse Farm, going under the hammer for 319ppk (£2277.66) weighing 714kg. This vendor also had a selection of tremendous bullocks forward and these sold to 335ppk (£2551.31).
A outstanding 9 year old British Friesian cow from J Pattinson & Son, Uldale Hall, Wigton weighed in at 884kg and made 211ppk which totalled £1865.24.

With prime hoggs selling to another amazing trade considering the majority of the sale were fell bred. Top price of the day was an £282 (68kg) for an outstanding Beltex Hoggs from Ms Nevinson, High House Farm.
Top Price Per Kilo honours went to Ms Hardisty, How Hall selling tremendous Beltex hoggs at 540ppk.
