On Wednesday 15th March 2024, Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth held their weekly sale of primestock with 33 Cattle comprising of 9 Prime Cattle and 24 cast cows; 1130 sheep including 51 prime lambs, 618 prime hoggs and 461 cast ewes and rams.
Topping the prime bull section per head was a Limousin Bull from Ms Teasdale, Lowside Farm this bull weighed 687kg selling for 281ppk grossing at £1930.47 – this bull also achieved top price per kilo in this section.

Today we had a larger show of spring lambs, topping the lambs per head was a Texel weighing 52kg from WW&D Boow, Corney Hall this lamb went under the hammer at £270.00 to local butchers WilsonWillis, Cleator Moor.
Top price ppk was a texel lamb also from WW&D Boow, Corney Hall weighing 49kg selling for 546.90ppk to local butcher Haighs of Workington.
