What a way to start the two day sale!!
Friday 20th September Mitchells Auction Company held the Annual Show & Sale of 6885 Mule Gimmer Lambs.
The sale was kindly sponsored by Carrs Billington, Hundith Hill Hotel, Livestock Information Services, Wm. Armstrong (Longtown) Ltd. The day kicked off with a fantastic show of sheep forward for the pre-sale show. The judging was in the capable hands of Miss Philly Batchelor and Mr Tommy Tustian with the referee Mr Nick Page. After some long deliberation the results were announced. The championship rosette was awarded to AG&KF Nicholson, Swinside End.
Mr Nick Page kindly judged the “Best run of lambs in the auction” which he awarded to the Walker Family, Beechcroft.
The ring was packed with buyers from both afar and local. With lambs selling above and beyond last years trade. A similar number of lambs were sold to the previous year and the average being up £20.00 on the year!
