Market Report for Wednesday 5th February 2025
On Wednesday 5th February, Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth, held their weekly sale of primestock with Cattle: sheep including prime lambs and cast ewes and rams.
With 33 cows forward witch comprised of 22 of them being dairy bred sold to an average of 225.12ppk. Beef cows sold to 269.50ppk £2403.94 from P&PI Walker, Beechcroft. Cast bulls sold to 237.50ppk £2465.25 from PE&M Capstick, Whicham Hall.
Continental bulls averaged 340.01ppk.

Weekly sale of prime hoggs saw a fast and competitive trade for all types with new buyers around the ring ensuring all vendors left pleased. With 40 lots selling for over £200 per head, topping at £250 twice from TA Jefferson, Aspatria Hall. With Geoff Smith selling Beltex Hoggs for £246. Mule hoggs saw keen interest selling to a top of £165 for a pen from P&PI Walker, Beechcroft. An overall averaged was achieved at 343.14ppk.
