A letter to Fred Sellers from Alfred Wainwright, thanking him for "The Generous references to myself and for certain nostalgic memories", 1955. Also a letter to Fred Sellers from December 1985. Wainwright and Fred worked together in the Treasurers Office in Blackburn. Fred remained there all his working life. Wainwright had written to Fred asking if he had any drawings or photographs from their office days as he wanted to use them in his autobiography "Ex-Fellwanderer", together with a sketch of Mr Sellers when Boro Treasurer.

A flier for The First Pictorial Guide "The Eastern Fells", which was published in 1955. Wainwright had an aversion to publicity but realised he would need a means of drawing attention to his book in order to get it into the shops. He produced this flier which he sent to old friends in Blackburn as well as various bodies he thought might help promote the book.

Thirty Alfred Wainwright sketches, on small scraps of paper. Wainwright's drawings included self portraits and portraits of his friends and colleagues. The sketches often poked fun at his friends and mocked his superiors. He used these scraps as a way of trying out ideas for his Pictorial Gazette. The thirty images in this collection are representative of these sketches (see illustration).
