A moulded plaster cast figure of St Anthony and the child Christ, late 19th century, with polychrome cold painted decoration and a moulded plaster figure of a Saint, with cold painted decoration, applied label to the base inscribed "Works of art from the collection of Joseph James Forrester Oporto", and a carved wood devotional figure of Mary and Jesus, heights tallest 42 cm, smallest 15 cm. NOTE - Joseph James Forrester (27 May 1809 - 12 May 1861) was an English merchant and wine shipper, born in Hull and of Scottish parentage. In 1831 he went to Oporto, Portugal, to join his uncle James Forrester, a partner in the house of Offley, Forrester and Webber. Whilst in Portugal he undertook a laborious survey of the Douro and in 1848 produced a map of the Duoro River from Vilvestre on the Spanish Frontier to its origins at St Joao da Foz, its merit was universally recognised and commended. In 1844 he published an anonymous pamphlet on the wine trade of which eight editions were rapidly exhausted, these pamphlets were the first foundation stones enabling him to obtain a reform of the abuses practised in Portugal in the making and treatment of port wine. He died in May 1861 descending the Douro and was swamped in one of the rapids where he drowned, his body was never found.

Shap, this sketchbook containing over 100 pen and ink sketches of mythical figures, architectural studies, dogs, horses, cattle etc. The nephew's sketchbook, John Salkeld Bland of Wyebourne, containing over 30 pen and ink sketches, mostly architectural and landscape, to include Cockermouth Castle, Workington Hall, Appleby Castle, The Pencil Mill in Teesdale, and a sepia wash of Gunnerkeld Stone Circle near Shap. He was also the author of "The Vale of Lyvennet".
