A late 19th century oak centre table, the frieze carved with lions head and gadrooned ornament on turned legs and with curved stretchers. 78 cm high, 120 cm long, 83 cm wide. The top inset with engraved copper plaque worded "This table was originally 1914 in the library of "The Monastery" Ypres. It was there used by successive British Generals until after the Second Battle of Ypres when as enemy shell fire was rapidly demolishing all buildings it was moved to a "dug out" in a cellar and used by Canadian troops. It was removed from this "dug out" in August 1916 when the Canadians left Ypres to take part in the Battle of The Somme".
