A historically important 18th century panelled oak bed backboard, the upper two knulled panels over three rows of triple panels, the ends with additional carved and painted lion and shield surmounts, the upper three panels with later painted oak lozenges. PROVENANCE - Formerly at Norfolk House, St James' Square, London, was removed by Charles 11th Duke of Norfolk to Worksop Manor and after to Greystoke Castle and is the bed in which on the fourth day of June 1738, was born at Norfolk House, His Majesty King George III. 282 cm x 180 cm.
