A rare mahogany miniature bureau by John Bubb, early 19th century, the fall front opening to reveal a shaped partition above two short drawers, with hand cut brass escutcheons and turned brass knob handles, all raised on shaped bracket feet and stamped to the underside "J. Bubb" maker. Width 16 cm, height 18.4 cm, depth 7.5 cm. NOTE - John Bubb was a toy and cabinetmaker and recorded as working between 1809 and 1837 at 31 White Street, Southwark, London (see illustration).

A horn and malacca double edged sword stick, late 19th century, the horn handle inset with five ivory dominoes (one missing) and with a gilt metal pressed ferrule, the malacca shaft housing a 61.5 cm blade with engraved inscription "No Me Envaines Sin Honor" and verso "No Me Saques Sin Razon" (draw me not without reason, sheath me not without honour) and with further engraved scrolls. A set of hand held brass apothecary scales, 19th century, with box ends, the beam stamped "P. Rogers & Co.", to weigh 2 ozs (the 2 has been overstruck by a 1) and with brass circular hands, the suspension struck with VR cipher. 10 grain weights, 3 circular apothecary weights and 13 square apothecary weights, all in a mahogany fitted case with red plush lining and applied gilt label for "Reynolds & Branson Ltd., Makers Leeds". The beam 16 cm. NOTE - The original company can be traced back to 1816 but throughout the 19th century changed hands until eventually in 1844 Richard Reynolds joined the company as an apprentice and in 1883 Frederick W. Branson joined the business thus forming Reynolds & Branson.
