A George III mahogany square piano, bearing Bilston Enamel plaque "By Royal Patent Longman & Broderip Musical Instrument Makers, 36 Cheap Side and No. 13 Haymarket, London" to satinwood panel inlaid with bellflower and above the keyboard, with moulding below and raised on tapered legs of square section united by a later raised mahogany shelf, the legs terminating in roller castors. The mechanism bears a serial number 2327 and there is a green silk covered dust board to the interior. The plaque dates the piano to somewhere between 1788 to 1793. Width 62 ins (see illustration).
