On Wednesday 2nd October 2019 Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth held their weekly sale of primestock with 50 cattle comprising 41 cull cattle and 9 prime bulls, 1827 prime sheep including 1142 lambs and 685 cast ewes and rams. Messrs Bowe, Mechi Farm made both top price per kilo and per head with 2 shapely bulls. Making top price per kilo was a Limousin bull at 191.50ppk selling to TL Fell. September Show & Sale of Store Cattle

Friday 27th September, we held our annual show and sale of 650 store cattle. A pre-sale show was kindly judged by Mr R Webster, Taylors Farm. Championship was awarded to a Limousin sired heifer which was shown by M/s Harryman, Keskadale, later selling for £1160. Annual show & sale of Bluefaced Leicester Rams and Females

On Monday 23rd September 2019 Mitchells held their annual Bluefaced Leicester show & sale.  The show was ably judged by Mr Edward Wilson, Grange Farm who placed a Shearling Ram sired by K2 Macqueston Champion from W & PA Walton & Son, Low Kinmont.  This ram later sold for £1600 to JE & A Wilson, Far End Farm.  Reserve honours went to Messrs Allan, Greenhow Farm for a ram lamb sired by L10 Greenhow.  The show was kindly sponsored by Dodd & Company Accountants. The sale opened up with store lambs with a strong company of buyers ensuring a competitive trade was seen for all types.  Following this the store cattle section was a little more difficult with the current prime beef trade being less although all buyers present giving the vendor satisfaction.
