On Wednesday 10th June 2020 Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth held their weekly sale of primestock with 65 cattle comprising 46 cull cattle and 19 prime bulls and clean cattle, 1272 prime sheep 1075 prime lambs and 197 cast ewes and rams. A seasonal entry of Store Cattle proved good to sell with improved optimism in the beef industry. All classes wanted. The days’ top price of £1215 was paid for a Charolais Heifer from Messrs Graham, Lynedraw, Ireby. On Wednesday 3rd June 2020 Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth held their weekly sale of primestock with 122 cattle comprising 110 cull cattle and 12 prime bulls and clean cattle, 1081 prime sheep including 669 spring lambs, 157 hoggs and 255 cast ewes and rams. A pleasing entry of 650 store cattle was forward for the “Jonny Skelton” May sale.  A predominately younger entry attracted a large ringside of buyers ensuring the trade was flying suppressing all expectations.  The drop and go system proved to be a success with all classes easily sold.
