On Wednesday 10th June 2020 Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth held their weekly sale of primestock with 65 cattle comprising 46 cull cattle and 19 prime bulls and clean cattle, 1272 prime sheep 1075 prime lambs and 197 cast ewes and rams. A seasonal entry of Store Cattle proved good to sell with improved optimism in the beef industry. All classes wanted. The days’ top price of £1215 was paid for a Charolais Heifer from Messrs Graham, Lynedraw, Ireby. Steers topped at £1175 for a Limousin from Messrs Noble, Gibbtarn, Beckermet.   A handful of Bulls forward sold to £1005 for a Limousin from RA Rawling, Overcroft, Greysouthen. On Wednesday 3rd June 2020 Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth held their weekly sale of primestock with 122 cattle comprising 110 cull cattle and 12 prime bulls and clean cattle, 1081 prime sheep including 669 spring lambs, 157 hoggs and 255 cast ewes and rams. On Wednesday 27th May 2020 Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth held their weekly sale of primestock with 63 cattle comprising 49 cull cattle and 14 prime bulls and clean cattle, 849 prime sheep including 471 spring lambs, 235 hoggs and 143 cast ewes and rams. Leading the sale in price per kilo was a shapely Limousin bull from Messrs Taylor & Gill, Fell End selling for 210 pence per kilo.  Top price per head was achieved for a tremendous Simmental bull from TA Byers, Ellenbank at £1429.90. ...

A pleasing entry of 650 store cattle was forward for the “Jonny Skelton” May sale.  A predominately younger entry attracted a large ringside of buyers ensuring the trade was flying suppressing all expectations.  The drop and go system proved to be a success with all classes easily sold. Friday 15th May 2020   A reduced entry of 500 Outfits of Hoggs and Ewes with Lambs at Foot was forward under drop and go conditions for what would have been the David Westgarth Memorial Trophy. The trade achieved far exceeded all expectations being electric for all classes.
