On Wednesday 21st September 2022 Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth held their weekly sale of primestock with 67 cattle comprising 53 cull cattle, 14 prime bulls and clean cattle, 1,729 prime sheep including 1341 lambs and 388 cast ewes and rams.   Prime cattle topped at 257ppk for a Limousin Bull from Messrs Teasdale, Lowside, Troutbeck. The Saturday Lakeland Sale of 5751 store lambs and continental gimmer lambs set of a flyer with locals looking for gimmer lambs. Leading the section was a pen of Texel tupping lambs from A Fearon, Kirkland House being sold for £140. The store lamb section had a wonderful ringside of buyers which had travelled from most corners of the country. Strong type lambs were good to cash with buyers looking towards the Christmas trade.
