On Wednesday 1st November 2023 Mitchells Livestock Centre, Cockermouth held their weekly sale of primestock comprising of 64 cast cows and 57 prime cattle, 2017 sheep including 1649    prime lambs and 368 cast ewes and rams.   The monthly Lake District Sale of Prime Cattle sold to a busy ringside of both local and travelled buyers who ensured a strong trade for all classes. It was evident that with Christmas Shows approaching some of the best quality types had been held back for that purpose....

The annual gather of the Lakeland Fells culminated in Mitchells Auction today as a fantastic entry of over 7,000 fell bred lambs came forward before a ringside of both local and travelled buyers. A great trade ensued with all classes up on the year.   Top of £133 for Beltex lambs from AJ Wood, Woodhall Brow, Dean. A tremendous day was had at Mitchells Auction for the Annual Sale of True Traditional Lakeland Show of Suckled Calves and Store Cattle. This sale again exhibited superb quality in turn attracting new and returning customers. Record rates were witnessed delighting vendors. Market Report Friday 6th & Saturday 7th September The first day of the Herdwick Sheep fair saw a catalogued entry of 8617, and all vendors left the mart on a high with a super buzz around the ring all day.
